Businesses are now able to opt-out of receiving unsolicited marketing, meaning organisations are obliged either by law or by codes of practice to ensure that these preferences are adhered to. TPS
The telephone preference service allows consumers (approximately 14 million to date) to register their telephone numbers to opt-out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing calls.
CTPS
The corporate telephone preference service allows businesses (approximately 1 million to date) to register their telephone numbers to opt-out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing calls.
FPS
The fax preference service allows consumers and businesses (approximately 19 million to date) to register their fax numbers to opt-out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing faxes.
Email
Since December 2003, UK law (EU Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive) changed so that EMPS only needs to be used for email campaigns sent outside the European Union.
