An interview with a Researcher
The people behind the product

Ben Pepeperell is one of seven research team leaders at Corpdata. Responsible for ensuring his team meets Corpdata's quality goals and checking each record is verified and updated according to our research procedure.

How long have you worked at Corpdata?

Just coming up to 5 years. The time has really flown by and I’ve learned so much since starting.

How many people are in your team?

There are six members in my team all together. All are female apart from me, which is nice.

How would you sum-up your job in a sentence?

Great fun with a good atmosphere and the scope to learn a lot.

What is your team currently working on?

My team is currently working on the Marketing & Media file as well as the IT & Telecomms industry. We also research various sectors including retail, finance, manufacturing and public sector. As well as this, we also work on bespoke jobs for clients who are looking to gather specific information on particular industries.

How many records can you update in a day?

I can research around 80 records a day at a very high level of quality. I don’t like to exceed this by much as it is never worth compromising the accuracy of the data for the sake of numbers. As a team leader, the important thing for me is to encourage people to be thorough.

How important do you think your work is to Corpdata?

I think my work and the work of my team is very important to Corpdata. The work we do relates directly the reputation Corpdata has established over the years. If we didn’t produce quality, well-researched data, then it would undermine the work of everyone else in the company.

Do you enjoy your job?

The job can be a laugh at times, either with the many different people we get to speak to each day or just generally in a team environment. By nature the job can seem repetitive at times, but maintaining a large database the size of ours requires this kind of constant input. I think it’s equally important to smile and enjoy the day as it’s good for motivation and maintaining high moral.

What’s the most amusing response you’ve had to a phone call?

I’ve heard them all over the years. One guy thought I was calling from Corpse-data, which had him slightly worried. Also, after spelling my name out to one lady several times, she put me through to the Marketing Manager as Mr Pepperoni.
